Historically projects tended to be managed by one person. But now projects require not only development, but testing and documentation so we would encourage project teams. A project team will help ensure greater quality on the project, give greater flexibility for fixing bugs and adding enhancements. It also will give consumers greater confidence in downloading projects, knowing they are less reliant on individuals to ensure they will always be current.

If you wish to join the team for an existing project, please add details to the Discussion area of the project. If you are a project lead and want team members, possibly with specific skill-sets, please email board@openntf.org who will be happy to blog for you.

Any contributor can set up new projects, but please check for a similar project before doing so. Where possible, projects should conform to Apache License Version 2.0, or at least GNU General Public License Version 3. For details about conforming with our IP policies (which are not onerous) see the IP pages. Once your project is set up, please contact support@openntf.org, who will set up a source control repository for your project on OpenNTF's Stash and provide access for you. This will allow the project team to work together and will allow other contributors to fork the code and submit pull requests with new features or bug requests.

When you're ready to submit a release, the Import and Export for Designer plugin makes it easier for Domino Designer to package up a release including the license and notice files required. Here is a blog post detailing Paul Withers' first experience of the plugin. Once you submit the release, the IP Manager will check that it conforms to the IP policy and, if required, work with you to advise on any amendments required to the release. A committer will also check the project to make sure it works and check the documentation is clear enough for consumers.
