The Board comprises:
  • Three Contributor Directors who have a one-year term.
  • Nine Member Directors who must be employed by an OpenNTF member company. Member Directors have a two-year term unless there are exceptional circumstances requiring a one-year term. The cycle ensures an at least four member director posts are up for renewal each year.

The board have a teleconference board meeting fortnightly on a weekday. In addition, board members may be involved in other initiatives like contests, webinars, technical working groups and other working groups as appropriate.

Elections are in September each year. Anyone with an ICLA or CCLA is eligible to be nominated or nominate themselves for a Contributor Director post. Anyone on a member company's CCLA is eligible to be nominated or nominate themselves for a Member Director post.

If the number of candidates for Contributor Director or Member Director posts is equal to or fewer than the number of posts available, those candidates will be elected by acclamation and no ballot will be required. Where the number of candidates is fewer than the number of available posts, any remaining posts will be considered vacant and may be filled in accordance with the Board's applicable rules or procedures.

At the first meeting of the newly elected Board, the Board will elect the positions of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. All Board members are eligible to nominate themselves for any of these positions.
