Apps Installation

There are three different types of apps in the OpenNTF catalogs. The installation depends on the type of app.

1. Rich Client Components

End users can take advantage of the rich client components. Widgets and plugins can be installed into the Lotus Notes client by browsing the catalogs and dragging and dropping components into Lotus Notes. The components can show up in the Lotus Notes sidebar, as pop up windows triggered by live text or any other more sophisticated Lotus Notes extensions (e.g. menu contributions). For developers, we also provide the source code for these components.

There is a video on YouTube describing how to install rich client components.

2. Reusable Controls

Developers can take advantage of the controls that can be re-used to create custom applications. The source code for these controls can be downloaded and used in Lotus Domino Designer. Reusable controls can be sets of arbitrary design elements. Controls can easily be imported into Lotus Domino Designer via an import tool provided on OpenNTF that can be installed as other rich client components.

There is a video on YouTube describing how to import reusable controls.

3. Projects

The third category of apps covers all other types of projects. The projects can be templates (NTFs) and applications (NSFs or Eclipse features) demonstrating sophisticated technical capabilities and value of Lotus Notes/Domino as application development platform. Cleared project releases can be downloaded from the catalogs directly. You can find install instructions for these projects in the projects' documentation.
